You can learn how to be a family detective and have fun discovering your ancestors and gathering family stories through our new series. If you are curious, like to ask questions, are a good listener, pay attention to details, and have patience, you can start building your family tree. Children love to learn about the world they live in and the family they belong to. Helpful ways to teach children about their current and extended family, living and those who have passed away, are by gathering photos, letters, newspaper clippings, artifacts and more that tell an ancestor’s story. |

This resource was published by the Alberta Genealogical Society to introduce the wonders of genealogy and family history, to children and youth. This resource does not constitute a whole course of genealogy; nor does it cover every aspect of the two disciplines. They are instead what might be regarded as the Society's attempt to arouse interest within a young person about his or her family and their past. We hope, young people will have the interest to either continue with this study of family history, or to take it up later in life. |
