About Us

The purpose of our Branch is to promote interest in family history and genealogical research by providing opportunities for the exchange of genealogical ideas and information. The Grande Prairie & District Branch often in collaboration with other like-minded organizations sponsor various activities and presentations covering a variety of topics for the education and interest of our members. The Branch offers research assistance from Genies in the Library to the public. Our volunteers have several ongoing projects, but our most notable is the collection and indexing of obituaries from area newspapers, and photographing and transcribing gravestones in local cemeteries.
