About Us

The purpose of our Branch is to promote interest in family history and genealogical research by providing opportunities for the exchange of genealogical ideas and information. The Grande Prairie & District Branch hold regular meetings with programs covering a variety of topics for the education and interest of our members. We publish a newsletter Heritage Seekers which includes stories written by our members of genealogical interest. The Branch offers research assistance from Genies in the Library to the public. And the volunteers have several ongoing projects, but our most notable is the collection and indexing of obituaries from area newspapers, and photographing and transcribing gravestones in local cemeteries.
